Whether during Bachelor’s or Master’s studies, or while pursuing a doctorate, the Department of Classical Archaeology in Giessen offers a range of funding opportunities for students and early-career researchers. Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), Gießen Through our close cooperation with the GCSC, doctoral candidates have access to a variety of funding opportunities. Scholarships are advertised annually in November, with funding commencing at the beginning of the following winter semester (October). Maria und Dr. Ernst Rink-Foundation The Maria und Dr. Ernst Rink Foundation supports early-career researchers in the field of Classical Studies through grants for research projects and dissertation publication costs. Applications may be submitted throughout the year. Funding decisions are made regularly by the Board of Trustees through a rolling review process. Dr. Dieter und Sigrun Neukirch-Foundation The Dr. Dieter und Sigrun Neukirch Foundation supports outstanding academic work in the fields of Archaeology, Classical Languages, and Geography at JLU, particularly dissertations as well as Master’s and State Examination theses.
