TEFL Staff

Our professors, Jürgen Kurtz and Ivo Steininger, are not only experts in their respective areas of scholarly interest, but are themselves passionate language teachers as well as teacher educators who support students with their teaching, research projects and mentoring.
Their team of research assistants (Dr. Leo Will, Nancy Mezzio) pursues projects ranging from phenomenological research into language teacher education to digitally-mediated language learning to exploring the potential of literature and film in the EFL classroom.
Our teacher educators (Dr. Lambrini Loumbourdi, Hannah Schneider, Simone Handrick) boast long careers as language teachers and are happy to pass their rich experience on to their students.
Our student support team is always there for you, providing assistance to our academic staff and helping students better navigate university life.
Last but not least, behind the scenes our administrative team (Nadine Traughber and Nora Sommerlad) ensures that everything runs smoothly, providing fundamental services that keep the department thriving.
