The next edition of the hungry eyes festival will happen 7.11. & 21.11. & 5.12. at the Kinocenter Gießen.

hungry eyes festival is a festival at the intersection of film, performance and installation art and takes place every one and a half years in Giessen.

This year we are taking a look ‘back’, on one hand at our conceptual roots - the interest in experimental short film - and on the other hand on the submissions of the last years.

For this edition of the festival we will focus on one instead of three art forms - film - and the festival will take the form of a three-part film series, which will take place in a local cinema.

As we could always only select a limited number of films, we want to revisit the many works in our archive that for one or another reason didn’t make it into the final selection. Therefore the program for this edition will not be created through an open call, but will be re-curated from the submissions of the last editions.

We want to reflect on our process of curation and find new connections and joy in the things that are already there.

Through its diverse program, hungry eyes festival addresses the widest possible audience, ranging from film-loving citizens of Giessen and the surrounding area to the professional audience of the international interdisciplinary art scene.
