The world's first hands-on mathematical museum was conceived by Albrecht Beutelspacher, professor for mathematics at Justus Liebig University. It was inaugurated in 2002. The Liebig-Museum is located in the original laboratory of Justus von Liebig. The museum was established to honor the chemist Justus von Liebig. Liebig was professor at the University of Gießen from 1824-1852 and founder of the modern laboratory-oriented teaching method. Alongside he devised numerous concepts and inventions and discovered a lot of compounds such as nitrogen fertilizer.

Hessenpark Open-Air Museum
Over 100 original buildings including interior from the past 400 years were painstakingly preserved at the Hessenpark, the open-air museum depicting the cultural history of Hesse.
