• characterization and function of AP-1- and NF-κB-containing protein:DNA complexes for the regulation of chemokine genes
• identification and genome wide mapping of enhancer elements, transcription factors and cofactors that medaite IL-1-regulated chromatin functions
• investigation of the roles of the decapping complex for post-transcriptional control of IL-1 target genes

• identification of novel IL-1-regulated signaling molecules by mass spectrometry and their functional characterization

• establishment of fluorescence-based microscopy and laser microdissection methods to study protein:RNA interactions and IL-1-induced gene regulation at the single cell level (immunoRNA-FISH, DNA-FISH))
• analyses of transcriptional and posttranstriptional signaling pathways during infection with human coronaviruses (HCoV-229E)
