Reviewing academic publications is the perfect way to gain an overview of current disciplinary discussions and debates. Reviewers are also able to position themselves within scientific discourses and attract attention to their own research. As such, writing a review is the ideal starting point for early career researchers’ list of publications.
The course provides the participants with an understanding of the academic review as a genre, scientific writing strategies and first publication experience. The participants will write their own review, discuss it with their peers and receive feedback as well as publish it with KULT_online, the review journal of the GGK/GCSC.
The workshop will be held in English and is structured in two parts: In the first session, we will talk about the academic review as a genre, how to structure a review and discuss various example reviews. In the second part of the workshop, we will discuss and give feedback on the reviews that you have written over the winter break. There are two feedback sessions scheduled to allow for enough time to discuss each review in detail but participant will be divided into two groups so that everyone only needs to attend one feedback session. Your reviews will then be published with the spring issue of KULT_online
