RA9 is beginning the semester with a social event, open to all GCSC members new and old. We’ll be taking a walk from the graduate centre into Schiffenberg forest and back, paying special attention to mushrooms along the way. The last few years have seen an explosion of interest in mushrooms in art, science, literature and scholarship, leading the scholars Natalia Cecire and Samuel Solomon to declare a ‘mycological turn’. Join us in the woods to exchange mushroom facts and fictions, from Anna Tsing to Olga Tokarzcuk, or maybe just to find a penny bun for your dinner! We’ll set off from the GCSC at 14:00. Bring walking shoes, water, and your mushroom ID books. RA9 will provide snacks.
