With the establishment of the GGN, the Justus Liebig University Giessen has closed a central gap in its graduate education. Since 2022, the GGN offers a modern, needs-oriented support program for doctoral students and postdocs in departments 06–08. The GGN report for the years 2022 to 2025 is now available (in German) and provides a comprehensive insight into the development, aims and impact of the GGN. The report shows how an idea became a vibrant center – with a clear profile, a diverse training portfolio, and high participation from the target groups. The report addresses key questions, such as: How does the GGN differ from other centers? What role does personal initiative play? How is integration into university networks and third-party projects achieved? At the same time, the report documents how the goals formulated in the application to the State of Hesse – from promoting international doctoral students to career support to visibility and success in applications – have been achieved and often exceeded. The report is aimed at everyone interested in the development of sustainable structures in doctoral support – both within and outside the university. |
