Sustainability, diversity, digitalisation and knowledge transfer
  • Advancing digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), social challenges such as climate change and pandemics pose major challenges for all societies worldwide and require newly networked, international fields of action in all areas of science.
  • The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at JLU Giessen, which started in the winter semester 2023/24, enables students to deal with these social realities and requirements of the present and future from an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective.
  • The Bachelor's degree programme in Liberal Arts & Sciences focuses primarily on the fields of sustainability, diversity, digitalisation and knowledge transfer. In this respect, the JLU departments are able to act as providers of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching for students.
  • The objective is to utilise the heterogeneity of prerequisites, the varied interests and skills of the students as a resource to ensure that they are able to fully develop their potential and are well equipped for new, future professional fields:
  • A central concern is that students not only acquire knowledge, but also gain relevant future-oriented and career-orientated qualifications.
