Information for students
In the first two semesters, the core curriculum provides students with the basics of academic work, but also allows them to try out subjects according to their individual interests.
By subsequently choosing an interdisciplinary subject track on future topics, students can customise their further studies according to their individual and subject-specific interests, needs and career goals. Skills acquired in the chosen specialisation are then included in the Bachelor's thesis.
Information on the course of study and examinations can be found in the special regulations for the Bachelor's degree programme "Liberal Arts & Sciences" and in the module regulations.
Detailed information for enrolled students can be found on the university's platforms. An overview including explanations of the Justus Liebig University e-campus can be found here.
Flexible orientation year with a micro degree
Students start flexibly with an orientation year, which they can complete with a micro degree. In this first year, they prepare for their degree programme and get to know the subject tracks.
More information about the orientation year can be found here.
Subject tracks
During orientation, students decide on one of these tracks and thus also on a humanities/cultural/social science specialisation in the Bachelor of Arts or a technical/scientific specialisation in the Bachelor of Science. In the winter semester 2024/25, the first students will complete the orientation year. Until then, a number of other tracks will be available in addition to the following subject tracks. The following options are already available:
- Formationen des Wissens (Formations of Knowledge) (B.A.)
- Sustainable Development and Digital Transformation (B.Sc.)
In addition to a micro degree after the orientation year, students earn a Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science after six semesters, depending on the subject track.
Owing to the practical components and the interdisciplinary orientation of the subject tracks, students will be well equipped for a career in NGOs, government organisations and future-oriented companies. In addition, students can also use their specialised training in the subject track to pursue an academic and subject-specific Master's degree.
Participation and collaboration
Starting in the winter semester 2023/24, the first cohort will be intensively involved in the further development of the degree programme. The first degree programme that grows with you!
