PhD "Get-Together"

We invite all PhD students to our PhD Get-together.

The PhD Get-together is a regular but casual meeting among PhD students, accompanied by the GGS, and will take place every six - eight weeks. Here, doctoral students can network and organize themselves and at the same time receive useful information and offers for the doctoral period.

At the beginning of each exchange, speakers will give short impulse lectures on selected topics and afterwards you can discuss these topics as well as other topics that concern you in a relaxed atmosphere.

If you are interested, we are looking forward to every participation in our exchange.

In order to get an overview for the preparations, we ask you to register in advance by e-mail to our info-mail address: info@ggs.uni-giessen.de.

The last meeting of the PhD Get-together took place on January 15, 2025. A new meeting is currently being planned.

The doctoral phase is an intensive time in which doctoral candidates face many challenges embedded in relationships of dependency. Conflicts can therefore also arise during this phase, for example between supervisors and doctoral candidates. If left unresolved, such conflicts can have a significant impact on the doctoral candidate's performance and well-being. Our GGS doctoral student exchange offers you the opportunity to exchange experiences and support each other in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Here you can network with other doctoral candidates, learn from their experiences and work together to find solutions to challenges in your doctorate.

For this special exchange, we now also have a guest on site who will share his experience with you and be available to answer your questions. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Christoph Benicke has been supervising doctoral theses himself for many years, was Dean of Studies and a member of the doctoral committee at Faculty 01 and a conflict advisor at GGS for several years, gaining experience with various types of conflict situations.

The exchange will take place in the Vanilla Bar (Göthestr. 56) from 12.30 am to approx. 2.00 pm.
