Hochschultagung 2024 of the Faculty 09 at JLU Giessen
Speakers from the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (ZNE) presented their work at the Hochschultagung 2024, hosted by the Faculty 09 of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management at JLU Giessen. Around 400 participants enjoyed the diversity of inspiring interdisciplinary perspectives on sustainable food systems shared by:
- Prof. Ulrike Gisch (Nutritional Psychology) - „Psychologische Determinanten eines nachhaltigen Essverhaltens“
- Prof. Gudrun Keding (International Food Security) - „Vergessene Nahrungspflanzen für eine gesunde Ernährung im globalen Süden: ein Beitrag zu nachhaltigen Ernährungssystemen“
- Prof. Sarah Schiessl-Weidenweber (Genetics of Crop Diversity) - „Ertragsstabilität in Ackerbohne unter künftigen Klimabedingungen“
- Prof. Agnieszka Golicz (Agrobioinformatics) - “Leveraging modern genomic technologies for crop improvement”
- Prof. Suzanne Jacobs (Land Use Systems and Agroforestry) - „Bäume als multifunktionale Komponenten in nachhaltigen Landnutzungssystemen“
- Prof. Robert Ringseis (Sustainable Animal Nutrition) - „Biomasse aus Insekten als nachhaltige Futtermittelquelle für Nutztiere“
- Prof. John Clifton-Brown (Crop Biomass and Bioresources) - “Towards integrating annual and perennial crops to provide more sustainable food, feed, and industrial non-food feedstocks for the bioeconomy”.
The Science Slam, moderated by Dr Juliane Yildiz, allowed young scientists to present their research ideas in a creative and innovative way, making sustainability science engaging and attractive to a wide audience.
