The PCMO's offers cover central topics of the postdoc phase - we want to help you to conduct excellent research and teaching and to actively plan your career. We offer you tailor-made workshops, individual counselling, mentoring programmes, put you in touch with other important contacts at JLU, provide you with individual coaching and inform you about helpful offers from external providers.

The JLU Executive Board has decided to discontinue funding for the PCMO after 2026 due to the cost-cutting measures required under the Hessian Higher Education Pact. We invite all postdocs and advanced PhD students to make the most of the PCMO’s services before the end of the year. Please attend our workshops and/or book an individual consultation to discuss your specific questions regarding a career in academia or outside academia. Please register by emailing pcmo@admin.uni-giessen.de.
Beyond 2026, the regular services offered by the graduate centres, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, and HR Development will remain available to you as postdocs and PhD students (e.g. the annual internal training programme). An overview can be found on the websites of the respective institutions. Our evaluation has shown that the postdoc programmes help researchers take the next step in their career development.
