This degree programme is made up of a combination of subjects from the humanities and social sciences, with the main focus being on languages. The main language of instruction of this course of study is German. All language subjects are also taught in the respective language; almost all English courses are taught in English.

 

The programme Language, Literature and Culture combines either two major subjects or one major and two minor subjects. The courses’ content is determined by the chosen subject and ranges from the analysis of literary texts and linguistic stages of development as well as the basics of human communication to societal condition in the German and international sphere.

 

Subject-specific prerequisites

Students should be interested in linguistic-, cultural- and literary topics. These include questions concerning community life of human-beings, construction and description of cultures and the spoken languages in the cultural areas, as well as the composed literature. In general, students should be interested in reading, interpreting, analysing and writing texts. Moreover, an interest in intercultural programmes is useful.
