Content

Internationalization is increasingly finding its way into lecture halls and seminar rooms. Students and teachers of different nationalities meet each other and new perspectives are offered, but also new challenges. How do students and teachers experience such seminars from their respective perspectives? Does what the teachers have planned make sense and bring joy from the students' point of view? Do the teachers get what is "really" happening with the students? What particular challenges do they each see in the intercultural context? In this workshop, there will be a direct dialogue between teachers and students to answer such questions together. The workshop will be led by two students of educational sciences and supplemented by international perspectives. The theoretical foundations of intercultural competence will be discussed in detail using practical examples that you as participants can also bring in yourself.

Intended learning goals

After the course, participants will be able to:

  • to name theoretical basics of intercultural competence and to apply them reflectively to their own teaching contexts;
  • identify challenges of intercultural teaching contexts and develop productive solutions and;
  • to assess teaching and student perspectives appropriately and to integrate them fruitfully into the design of teaching/learning processes in an intercultural context.
