Course Content

Due to the necessity of presence-free teaching during the Corona pandemic, digital twins of laboratory experiments were developed at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in the control and automation technology laboratories. Even with the return to presence laboratories, a variety of potentials for the further use of digital twins in teaching became apparent. The advantages lie in particular in the unlimited availability and the short development cycles. This offers expanded possibilities for both student lab preparation and follow-up as well as options for remote labs and labs-at-home.

Furthermore, a - if necessary - quick return to presence-free teaching is made possible. The digital twins do not stand in opposition to real test benches, but should always be seen as a supplement and extension of the didactic and logistical possibilities of the laboratory.

In this lunchtime impulse, various completed digital twins and those in development will be presented, as well as the planned integration of these into (classroom) teaching. Afterwards, there will be the opportunity to exchange ideas about the transfer to one's own laboratory teaching and corresponding activities at the THM.

Registrations are possible directly with Marion Heiser(). After registration the link to the web room will be sent to you. This course can be credited with 2 units in the subject area " Digitalisation" towards the certificate "Competence for Professional University Teaching" of the Hochschuldidaktisches Netzwerk Mittelhessen (HDM)
