Sustainable agricultural development

Sustainable agricultural development in transition economies

Rising commodity prices, an increasing recognition of arable land as a globally scarce resource, as well as income and employment needs of rural populations have reinvigorated the debate about how farming should be organised in a sustainable manner worldwide. With a focus on post-Soviet Europe and Central Asia, we investigate patterns of agricultural restructuring, labour and tenancy arrangements, sustainable use of land and water, and the emergence of the livestock sector.
