A Historical Site

The international summer school "Climate Change Impacts on the MED Agro-Food Chain" will take place at the JLU Conference Venue Schloss Rauischholzhausen.

The castle was built between 1871 and 1878 by Ferdinand Stumm. The new owner of the grounds, that were five hundred years long in the possession of the Rau von Holzhausen family, commissioned leading German architects to build a prestigious castle and a lavish park for him and his family. Nestled in the beautiful landscape of the impressive English gardens with three hundred different bush and tree species, creeks and ponds, cascading waterfalls and sculptures, the late nineteenth century estate offers a unique fairytale atmosphere.

Calm & Inspring Environment

Schloss Rauischholzhausen is located in the central Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf; densely wooded and with enchanting walks, it is an ideal place to enjoy the history of the region. It is a good starting point for hikes in the surrounding nature and for visits to the medieval towns of Ebsdorfergrund and Marburg. Finally, with the university towns of Marburg and Giessen in the surrounding area, there are many leisure facilities nearby.
