Studying in Giessen
Studying at the Department of Geography

Practical relevance plays a special role during the course of study: students are involved and actively participate in current research projects in various research groups.
Furthermore, students can draw on a pool of professionally relevant geographical methods: For example, geostatistical methods, climate modeling, sedimentological laboratory analysis, field methods, interview and survey techniques for anthropogeographical primary data collection, and geographic information systems. The luminescence laboratory is particularly noteworthy: here, the department has the latest technologies in the field of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating.
Life in the University Town of Giessen

The city offers a rich cultural scene and a wide variety of pubs and cafés. And very important for students: Giessen is an urban area with short distances. Another advantage is Giessen's central location in Germany: the Frankfurt am Main metropolitan region in the south and the student city of Marburg in the north can be reached quickly by train.
