What makes academic discourse more than legible and persuasive, but also distinctive? And what, if any, role might (in)consistencies in rhythm, syntax, and tone play? This interactive workshop focuses on style and voice as something cultivated through reading attentively as much as writing actively. Participants will be asked to bring a ready-typed short paragraph of no more than 200 words from an academic book or article written in a style they admire.

(N.B. Please do not share the source or the author of the paragraph, or the passage itself, with either myself or any of the participants in the session).

// Dr. Denise Wong is a post-doctoral researcher at JLU.

Please register on Stud.IP to participate.
