GEOGLOWS & Geofem®: Capacitación y Actualización

GEOGLOWS, una iniciativa del Group on Earth Observations, impulsa la sostenibilidad hídrica global a través del avance de la ciencia hidrológica y el desarrollo de sistemas abiertos de pronóstico que fortalecen la gestión del agua en todo el mundo.
 
Ahora, una alianza entre el Rally Femenino de Tecnologías Geoespaciales – Escuela de Ambiente y Agua para Mujeres y GEOGLOWS permitirá dar seguimiento a las egresadas y ampliar el alcance hacia más gestoras de agua en Ecuador, incorporando herramientas de monitoreo y gestión de riesgos hidrometeorológicos.
 
 
 

Objetivos

1) Actualizar conocimientos sobre GEOGLOWS y su nueva versión
 

2) Comprender su aporte al pronóstico hidrometeorológico
 

3) Mejorar la comprensión sobre la modelación y el pronóstico hidrometeorológico

Modalidad: Dos sesiones virtuales en modalidad Teórico-Práctico.

La primera capacitación conjunta de la Escuela y GEOGLOWS cuenta con el respaldo de Brigham Young University, el FabLab del IICA, INAMHI, EcoCiencia, la Prefectura de Azuay, la Secretaría Nacional de Gestión de Riesgos, SDGnexus Network, DAAD, la Universidad de Cuenca, la Universidad Regional Amazónica Ikiam y Cátedra UNESCO.

GEOGLOWS, an initiative of the Group on Earth Observations, drives global water sustainability through advances in hydrological science and the development of open forecasting systems that strengthen water management worldwide.
 
Now, a partnership between the Women’s Rally of Geospatial Technologies – School of Environment and Water for Women and GEOGLOWS will enable continued engagement with alumnae and expand outreach to more women water managers in Ecuador, incorporating monitoring tools and hydrometeorological risk management.
 
 

Objetives

1) Update knowledge on GEOGLOWS and its new version.
 

2) Understand its contribution to hydrometeorological forecasting.
 

3) Enhance understanding of hydrometeorological modeling and forecasting.

Date and time: September 24 and 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Format: Two virtual sessions in a theoretical-practical format.

 

The first joint training by the School and GEOGLOWS is supported by Brigham Young University, the IICA FabLab, INAMHI, EcoCiencia, the Prefecture of Azuay, the National Secretariat for Risk Management, SDGnexus Network, DAAD, the University of Cuenca, the Regional Amazonian University Ikiam, and the UNESCO Chair.
