23.02.2023 - Communicating your research

Science Communication workshop took place on 8 February 2023 in a hybrid format and Zeughaus, Justus Liebig University (JLU), Giessen

Dr. Eva Diehl and Dr. Anne-Kathrin Weber, science communication officers at JLU, presented the basics of science communication and what they, at JLU, are offering to support researchers in this respect. According to Wissenschaftsrat (2021), science communication has several objectives, including informing and educating, enabling dialogue and participation, offering support and problem-solving, raising awareness for the importance of science and research, promoting your subject and your university, and inspiring others (e.g., pupils, students). Presenters also highlight the importance of identifying the target audience, media outlets, and formats. The workshop was followed by an interactive discussion about participants’ experiences and strategies with science communication.
