Evening Courses in German as a Foreign Language During the Semester
|
German courses for students on exchange programs (e.g., ERASMUS, ISEP), doctoral students, and visiting researchers and teachers and their dependants.
Every opportunity is given to exchange students (ERASMUS, ISEP etc.), doctoral students, visiting researchers or teachers and their dependants to attend classes in German as a foreign language during the academic semester. Within each course, there are 4 hours of instruction per week, catering to various levels of language competence. The work-load involved amounts to 3 ECTS points for each course passed. Classes run from October to February and from April to July (i.e. during the academic semester) in the evenings – as a rule, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 18:15 – 19:45 (each class lasting for 90 minutes or, in German, a 'Doppelstunde' or 'double hour'). Details on timetables can be found in our current schedule. These classes are free for students on exchange programs (ERASMUS, ISEP etc.). Doctoral students, visiting researchers or teachers and their dependants pay a nominal fee: in the Winter Semester, about €100, and in the Summer Semester about €90. Admission to the courses is based on a diagnostic test at the start of the semester (for time and place, see our current schedule). Further information is offered during Orientation Week and at the Section for German as a Foreign Language at the International Office. You can come by our Office personally or contact us by email: auslandsamt-kurse@admin.uni-giessen.de. Registration forms are available online in German and in English. In the month of March (during the vacation period), exchange students (ERASMUS, ISEP etc.), doctoral students, visiting researchers or teachers and their dependants can attend our spring intensive course. |
