Information zum Seitenaufbau und Sprungmarken fuer Screenreader-Benutzer: Ganz oben links auf jeder Seite befindet sich das Logo der JLU, verlinkt mit der Startseite. Neben dem Logo kann sich rechts daneben das Bannerbild anschließen. Rechts daneben kann sich ein weiteres Bild/Schriftzug befinden. Es folgt die Suche. Unterhalb dieser oberen Leiste schliesst sich die Hauptnavigation an. Unterhalb der Hauptnavigation befindet sich der Inhaltsbereich. Die Feinnavigation findet sich - sofern vorhanden - in der linken Spalte. In der rechten Spalte finden Sie ueblicherweise Kontaktdaten. Als Abschluss der Seite findet sich die Brotkrumennavigation und im Fussbereich Links zu Barrierefreiheit, Impressum, Hilfe und das Login fuer Redakteure. Teaching and research in the Department of English covers the areas of English Language and Linguistics, English and American Literature and Culture and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Our degree courses strongly encourage an international as well as an interdisciplinary perspective. In terms of teaching and research the Department of English is closely linked with other JLU departments as well as with the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC).

TEFL
The TEFL section of the English department deals with a variety of issues concerning the teaching and learning of English in educational contexts ranging from primary to secondary school and adult education.
Language and Linguistics
The English Linguistics section is involved in a wide range of research activities and offers courses in all major fields of modern English linguistics and all stages of the history of the English language.
Literature and Culture
The Literature and Culture section covers the whole range of literature produced in the English language, from the more classical research domains of British, Irish, and American literature to the 'New English Literatures'.
Language and Communication
The Practical Language and Communication team is committed to supporting students by helping them advance their academic language skills and their written, oral and intercultural competencies in general.
Study Abroad
The Study Abroad office offers you assistance on all matters concerning a study stay abroad - no matter whether you are a Giessen student wishing to go out or an international student intending to spend a period of time in Giessen.
