In der Vortragsreihe wird Ihnen über das Jahr verteilt das DFG-Förderportfolio für Wissenschaftler:innen in frühen Karrierephasen vorgestellt: Von einem ersten Überblick über die zentralen Förderangebote für Postdocs bis zu einzelnen Programmen der Personenförderung wie Walter Benjamin-, Emmy Noether- und Heisenberg-Programm, abwechselnd auf Deutsch und Englisch. Interessierte Promovierende und Postdocs aller Fachgebiete sind herzlich zur Teilnahme eingeladen.
The internationalization of courses at universities is increasingly in demand. Through (virtual) international seminars, lecturers as well as students can expand their intercultural but also professional competencies, build international networks and jointly design innovative teaching. In comparison to physical mobility, digital internationalization is considerably less expensive. Moreover, it is more inclusive, flexible and sustainable, while promoting digital competencies of participants. However, these innovative teaching formats also entail numerous challenges such as technical and organizational requirements, special didactical and methodological demands, as well as performance assessment and certification issues. This workshop series aims to address these challenges faced by educators and learners by providing insights, theoretical foundations, and practical recommendations for internationalizing virtual courses, emphasizing their significant inherent value. Over the course of five sessions, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their digital skills and sensitivity to intercultural disparities. The workshop will specifically focus on fostering two-way feedback mechanisms and address the complexities of performance assessment. Additionally, it will introduce the ePortfolio as a versatile tool for documentation, intercultural exchange, and self-reflection.
This online exchange aims to serve as a platform for stakeholders such as lecturers, teachers, managers, and students to exchange insights and best practices pertaining to international teaching. Participants will engage in discussions on a diverse array of topics that include innovative teaching methodologies, the integration of emerging technologies in international teaching, strategies for motivating and engaging international students and educators, the development of intercultural competence, curriculum design, sustainable teaching, and the exploration of various learning and teaching habits and styles, among other topics of interest.
Das Lab for Innovative Teaching in Gießen öffnet jeden Mittwoch von 10:00 bis 15:00 Uhr seine Türen für Interessierte an Virtual und Augmented Reality. Besucher können Fragen stellen, Geräte testen und an Workstations an virtuellen Lehrkonzepten arbeiten. Zudem steht eine VR-Ausleihstation für Lehr- und Forschungszwecke zur Verfügung.
This workshop aims to cultivate a deeper understanding of our intercultural reality and address intercultural disparities in a constructive manner. Participants will actively engage in discussions covering a diverse range of topics, including the multifaceted dimensions of culture within university settings, strategies for enhancing intercultural awareness to improve teaching effectiveness, the enrichment of learning experiences through embracing diverse perspectives, personal biases and power dynamics within educational contexts.
In dieser Lunch Lecture sprechen wir über die Motivation und Ziele sowie mögliche Maßnahmen der Internationalisierung. Wir diskutieren die Integration der Vermittlung interkultureller Kompetenzen in die eigene Lehre vor Ort, um eine Basis für zukünftige analoge und digitale Kooperationen zu legen.

Our Code School basics are a set of three online workshops in cooperation with NFDI4Earth. We offer a general introduction into basic programming and data science skills, i.e. programming basics with Python language and plotting. All workshops are free-of-charge.
Scientific software is often hard to maintain and reuse. A major reason for the instability of software is that it is subject to continuous change. This is especially true for software in the scientific context, since the scientific discourse is open-ended. Change has caused difficulties for scientific software developers from the very beginning, and it continues to do so. In parallel, the software engineering community has produced numerous developments that we as research software developers can take advantage of to significantly support our work. This workshop is an introduction on how to bridge the gap between both worlds and introduces practices, methods and principles to develop maintainable software and to make the software development process sustainable.
This series is especially for (young) researchers from the life-science / medical sector. It is co-organized by the PCMO@GGL and the Max Planck institutes in Marburg and Bad Nauheim, as well as the Marburg school for microbiology. It features a short presentation of invited speakers and offers room for some questions. The series is in english. This online series is normally scheduled for the first Friday every month from 12:00 to 13:00h.
Die wissenschaftliche Karriere bietet per se viel Unsicherheit. Das zeigt sich schon daran, dass die Zahl der Professuren begrenzt ist und lediglich ein Teil der Postdocs später auf einer solchen landet. Doch auch andere Karrierewege stehen Postdocs offen – oft sind sie nur weniger bekannt und manchmal nicht so gradlinig wie erhofft, aber dennoch attraktiv. Um Optionen für mögliche Alternativen aufzuzeigen, haben wir PCMO-Referent*innen des GGS und des GGL die Veranstaltungsreihe Karrieregespräche für Postdocs - Außeruniversitäre Perspektiven in Industrie, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft ins Leben gerufen. Planmäßig einmal im Monat laden das GGS und das GGL abwechselnd Gäste ein, die nach der Promotion in diversen Berufsfeldern Fuß gefasst haben. Sie werden uns ihre Geschichten erzählen und uns an ihrem Weg dorthin, wo sie jetzt sind, teilhaben lassen.
