Application and enrollment
JLU provides you with all the information you need to apply for a degree program digitally . If you have any further questions regarding application and enrolment, e.g. the status of your application or payment of the semester fee, please contact the Registrar's Office.
In accordance with § 4 (2) and § 5 (5) of the General Regulations for Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, students are enrolled in a higher semester upon request if
- the necessary periods of study required to achieve the desired semester can be proven from a previous degree program with the same name or comparable content or
- if coursework from a previous degree course amounting to at least 80% of the credit points required to achieve the desired semester (§ 6 (2) sentence 1) has been recognized (§ 27).

Please request the placement recommendation by e-mail from the examination office. Please submit a complete transcript of records and proof of the semesters completed.
Please note:
The recognition of coursework from your previous studies is possible regardless of the semester placement. You therefore do not have to be placed in a higher semester in order to receive recognition.
If you receive Bafög, you should seek advice from the Studierendenwerk/Bafög office before changing university or degree program
When changing universities or degree programs, you may need a semester recognition certificate for the Studierendenwerk/Bafög office. You can request this certificate by e-mail from the Examinations Office.
The semester recognition certificate checks which semester you could have been placed in.
