Business administration deals with the planning, organization and mathematical representation of concrete decisions and actions in companies. The aim is the successful entrepreneurial action of the individual company.
Economics deals with the economic explanation of human actions. Its perspective is geared towards the economy as a whole and takes into account factors such as the economic cycle, currency developments, political decisions and the availability of resources. It looks for laws from which it derives recommendations for action for economic and political players.
A wide range of degree programs in business studies and economics on a beautiful, well-structured campus with individual support are just some of the many reasons to study business administration and economics at Justus Liebig University Gießen.
For successfully studying economic and business administration, you primarily need an interest in economic and (social) political issues . The complex structures of thought and models also require analytical thinking skills and a solid level of mathematical understanding . You should also have a good basic knowledge of English .

- Thanks to our broad education in business administration and economics with the opportunity to choose individual majors during your studies, you can work in many different sectors (industry and services, banking and insurance, retail, logistics, energy, healthcare, ...) after graduation.
- With the majors from our degree programs, you can specialize in many different fields of activity and take on management positions in the areas of controlling, IT, sales, marketing, purchasing, consulting, communication or human resources.
- Our degree program prepares you for work in small, medium-sized and large international companies . Of course, self-employment is also conceivable later on: In our degree courses, you can learn the most important facts about setting up and managing companies. The path to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or public institutions is another possibility. For example, some of our graduates have ended up as “economic experts” in the German Council of Economic Experts or in leading economic research institutes. And those who would like to continue with teaching and/or research after their Master's degree can take up doctoral studies at our department and embark on an academic career .
A
good knowledge of both German and English
is required to study at our faculty. Our degree programs offer courses in German as well as in English. In the
general and special regulations
you can find out whether there are language requirements for admission to the particular degree program you are interested in. You will also find the language of instruction for the individual modules in the course descriptions, which are attached to the respective special regulations.
