Giessen University houses a large number of collections of different fields and subjects. As important components of research and teaching, they represent scientific interests and academic traditions. In this way, they are used for outreach activities for the public beyond the university and serve as places of living knowledge.

Member of Förderverein Deutsches Forschungszentrum Historismus e.V.

The association, founded in 2018, aims to promote research on the architecture and art of historicism. For this purpose, a research centre will be established to give new impetus to this topic, to present the results of research to the public and thus to express the importance of historicism in the past and present.

Member of Hein-Heckroth-Gesellschaft Gießen e.V.

The Hein-Heckroth-Gesellschaft Giessen e.V. was founded in 2001. It is dedicated to preserving and cultivating the artistic legacy of the painter, stage and film designer Hein Heckroth.
