Friends' Association

The association "Freunde der Gießener Antikensammlung e.V." was founded in 2009. Its mission is to support the dual role of the Collection of Classical Antiquities as a university institution and as a cultural venue with public appeal. The aim is to anchor the collection and its important exhibits in the publics' awareness. The Collection of Classical Antiquities is made more accessible to the public through events, exhibitions, guided tours, as well as publications of exhibition catalogues and thematic booklets. The association also enriches the collection by acquiring selected objects and preserves individual objects for the future through restoration measures.
