The disciplines Greek and Latin Philology, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History work together at the Institute of Classical Studies. The four participating departments do not only cooperate in the offered courses of study but are also linked by joint priorities in teaching and research. With a cultural-scientific orientation, the Greco-Roman antiquity is considered in all its material and intellectual diversity. The close exchange between students and lecturers across subject boundaries significantly shapes the institute’s atmosphere. This is promoted through regular joint events, activities and projects, in which the university’s long-standing Collection of Antiquities occupies an important role.
