Welcome to the web pages of the Institute of Catholic Theology

The Institute of Catholic Theology offers teaching students of the subject Catholic Religion subject-specific, subject-didactic, and school-practical studies, integratively interrelating the individual disciplines of theological teacher education. The offer includes modules in the degree programs for primary, secondary and secondary modern as well as grammar school and special education. 

Apart from that, Catholic theology can be studied as part of the bachelor's and master's programmes of "History and Cultural Studies" as major and minor in combination with numerous other subjects.

Focus points are the three fields Biblical Theology, Systematic Theology, and Practical Theology/Religious Education, supplemented by courses on Historical Theology.

The embedding of the institute in the faculty of History and Cultural Studies guarantees highly interdisciplinary research and teaching, which takes account of the social plurality also with regard to religious diversity.
