The Tower of Babel, the ideal cities of the renaissance up to modern times, plans of new worlds appear. Landscapes of glass and concrete stretch from the South American jungle over to the Italian alps. Envisioning planned, organized and eventually more just societies, the drafting tables and computers of centuries are filled with systems and calculations creating ideal proportions and conditions; Cities and buildings for a perfect life. Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Speer and Walt Disney work franticly on the axes of their new orders.

Once created, their inhabitants find themselves in their brave new grids. And what eventually had to happen, happens: A wall breaks in, a door disappears. The geometric systems fall apart in the moment of their occupation. Oscar N. becomes encroaching and starts bringing his own vision into SQ67. And this incident does not remain isolated. Like a virus peculiar interventions start pervading the complex construct. Floors disappear, staircases are being filled with concrete, corals punctuate the roof. Constructions turn into political action.

This March, during their residency at Fleetstreet F. Wiesel start their research in Hamburg: They talk to archeologists and cityplaners, investigate on the ways architecture shapes societies and societies inhabit architecture. They start mixing concrete and interpolate past visions.

“Ich bin der Welt noch den Tannhäuser schuldig” (I still owe the world a Tannhäuser) – this is what Richard Wagner allegedly said shortly before his death. In the FIASKO-Opera-Evening 5/5 concerning TANNHÄUSER the conductor and composer Johannes Harneit will present a musical lecture, exploring the root and utopian potential of this statement.

From July 28th to July 30th, hungry eyes festival for Film and Performance warmly invites you to open air movies, installations, performances, discussions, summer and wonderful evenings!

At three days, short movies are presented and at the great trash night, the trashiest movie will be awarded. Furthermore, before the movies, performances and installations using the medium film will be shown.

The festival takes place not only on stages and in different installation spaces, but in case of good weather also at the yard of the university’s Old Library.

We are looking forward to a lot of sun and to seeing you there!

I AM NOT A JOKE is a concert.
I AM NOT A JOKE is a performance.
I AM NOT A JOKE is not one, but many.
What if the 90s Riot Grrrl Movement, 60s Feminist Performance Art and Third World Feminism would have met and collaborated together?
The band THE KILL JOYS whose members are Olivia Hyunsin Kim, Magda Drozd and a drum computer, start with this question in their Concert-Performance I AM NOT A JOKE. All three coming from a Performance Art background, being influenced by different streams of feminism especially from the Third World and sharing a passion for music á la Riot Grrrl, pick up where they have left off.
Especially under the current political climate where women need to fight (again!) for their voice and visibility, THE KILL JOYS want to address current issues which move us, upset us and unite us.
