Teaching

The Working Group Special Educational Psychology is particularly involved in the training of prospective special education teachers.
At the heart of our teaching is the integration of psychological, diagnostic, and (special) educational perspectives with concrete questions
from school practice. Our teaching conveys both scientifically grounded declarative knowledge and professional practical knowledge.
While lectures cover theoretical foundations, diagnostic procedures, and psychological models of learning, development, and support,
seminars focus on the application of this knowledge.

A particular emphasis is placed on educational-psychological assessment, report writing, and evidence-based intervention. Students learn to evaluate learning and developmental trajectories in a differentiated manner, to apply diagnostic procedures in a reflective way, and to derive scientifically grounded recommendations for support that take into account individual prerequisites as well as child-environment conditions.
In doing so, they work with standardized testing procedures, classroom observations, and case studies. The goal of our teaching is to make
scientific findings applicable to diagnostic and pedagogical decisions in everyday school life, and to develop professional competencies for
school and educational support settings.
