Workshop on TEEB-China Study
On 13 November 2012 a group of Chinese scientists involved in preparations for a study on The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity in China (TEEB-China) visited Justus-Liebig-University Giessen. At a joint workshop with the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) and the guests from China, JAGUAR partner Prof. Ernst-August Nuppenau gave a presentation on Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) (Fig. 1), and Dr. Stefan Hotes gave an introduction to the inter- and transdisciplinary research in the JAGUAR project.

During an excursion organized by Prof. Rainer Waldhardt of the Landscape Ecology Group at Giessen University, land use change in the course of the transition towards the use of renewable energy sources and its effect on biological diversity were at the centre of the discussions (Fig. 2).
