Research

In the context of various research areas the Mammalian Ecology Group selected target species of bats and small mammals and examines their ecology.

Many Central European mammals represent indicator species for nature conservation and because of their function and special way of life they are interesting objects for research. The Mammalian Ecology Group works on research approaches from the fields of reproductive biology, foraging ecology, ecophysiology, ecoimmunology and landscape ecology of mammals based on various long-term studies. Ecological relationships between occurrence and habits of small mammals and bats and the various elements of the landscape features (forests, waters, etc.) are of particular interest.
