Team member Dr Nozilakhon Mukhamedova speaks at conference on changing roles in agriculture: characteristics of feminization in Central Asia

11 June 2020 - The online conference “Women and water governance at local, national and transboundary level” is organised by Kazakh-German University in Almaty and the Central Asian Journal of Water Research (CAJWR). It takes place on June 12, 2020, from 15:00 to 17:00 (UTC+6). The conference is conducted in Russian and English, participation in the conference is free.

Water resources are one of the main factors of economic development in the Central Asian region, significantly affected by climate change at different levels. Despite the recognition of the role of women in water management, the introduction of methods and strategies to overcome gender and, not only, barriers to women's equal participation remains unclear. Therefore, a gender perspective in water management becomes especially important in a situation where water is becoming less and competition among users is growing. Dr Mukhamedova speaks about her fieldwork on gender relations in Central Asian agriculture with a focus on Tajikistan.
