Diversity German Donkeys
Establishment of a database for analysing the genetic diversity of the German donkey population
The aim of this project is to collect representative genomic data on populations of German donkeys, Thuringian Forest donkeys and other breeds, as well as associated animal data (age, sex, pedigree, conformation traits and distinctive features), and to genotype these in parallel using a microsatellite panel, the horse SNP chip and the donkey-specific SNP panel. By the end of the project, genomic data on the German donkey population – and thus the necessary basis for studies into genetic diversity and the breeding of healthy animals – will be available for the first time.
