Johanna Munzel

Johanna Munzel recently defended her dissertation at Justus-Liebig-University Giessen, Germany where she was a PhD candidate at the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies and member of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC). In her dissertation, she examines postmigrant resistance strategies against racism, sexism and antisemitism at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin under the directorship of Shermin Langhoff. Her research interests include postmigrant and postcolonial theoretical approaches, critical migration studies, gender studies and memory culture.
She completed her Master of Arts in Migration and Diversity Studies at University of Kiel with a focus on Turkish Language and Islamic Studies and studied one year at Marmara University, Istanbul. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Educational and Political Sciences from Halle-Wittenberg University.
