Lilli von Stengel

About me

Lilli von Stengel is a doctoral student at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) at Justus Liebig University Giessen and works as a research assistant at the Center for Diversity, Media, and Law (DiML). In her dissertation, supervised by Prof. Dr. Greta Olson, Lilli focuses on cultural and individual trauma narratives around #MeToo in the US and UK. She pays particular attention to the relationship between digitality, online activism and shared narrative strategies in cultural products. The working title of her dissertation is #MeToo: Cultural Narratives and Digital Trauma.

She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich, and St. Anne's College, University of Oxford. Following this, she specialized in trauma and feminist studies at the University of Hamburg with a Master of Arts (M.A.) in British and American Cultures: Text and Media. In between and during her studies, Lilli worked in PR and science communication with a focus on sustainability and digital media studies.
