Research Area 6: Cultural Identities

In Research Area 6: Cultural Identities we invite scholars and enthusiasts to explore the dynamic concepts, themes, and ideas surrounding identity within diverse cultural contexts. Our research examines how identities are constructed, experienced, and transformed across socio-cultural landscapes, with a focus on the following key areas:

Socio-Cultural Coordinates and Practices:The interplay between societal structures, cultural norms, and identity formation.

Globalized and Hybridized Identities:The impact of globalization and cultural hybridity on identity.

Internalized and Externalized Identities: How identities are shaped internally and expressed externally.

Othering and Displacement: The dynamics of exclusion, marginalization, and displacement.

Subjective Cultural Formation and Adaptation: How individuals and groups adapt to and reinterpret cultural influences.

In "Cultural Identities," we employ interdisciplinary perspectives to explore the origins, evolution, and transformation of identity across historical and global contexts. Our research highlights the fluid and layered nature of identity, emphasizing its intersections, contrasts, and disruptions within cultural dynamics. Rather than viewing identity as fixed, we understand it as a continuously evolving construct shaped by cultural forces.

Join us in uncovering the intricate relationship between culture and identity, as we shed light on overlooked realities and contribute to a deeper understanding of identity in an ever-changing world.
