Development of an impedance network model for describing transport properties within energy storage materials

Bild des Monats Januar

The electronic transport through secondary materials of cathodes or thin films is usually described by models that are either neglecting polarization effects (resistor network) or ignoring percolation effects caused by the microstructure of real devices.

In order to get a more realistic description of actual transport phenomena in such materials, especially the influence of the microstructure, we developed an impedance network model that considers different conduction ratios along and across grain boundaries as well as through the bulk material. With its help it is possible to compute impedance spectra and current density distributions of defined or random structures that mimic the properties of the real microstructure.
