POLiS
Cluster of Excellence for Post Lithium Storage (POLiS)
Prof. Jürgen Janek's research group at the ZfM is part of the POLiS Cluster of Excellence together with groups from the University of Ulm and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
The aim of the cluster is to develop new types of energy storage whose material components are based on non-critical materials. These primarily include the elements sodium, magnesium, calcium and aluminium.
During the first funding period from 2018 to 2025, the Giessen scientists were involved as an external team, while they are among the applicants for the second funding period (2026 to 2033).
