Introduction
The 64th annual conference of the Society for Economic and Social Sciences of Agriculture e.V. (GEWISOLA) is jointly organised by representatives of the Department 09 and the Center for Sustainable Food Systems of the Justus-Liebig University as well as the Department of Wine and Beverage Business of the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences.

The conference took place from Wednesday, 25 September to Friday, 27 September 2024 at the Justus Liebig University (JLU) Giessen.
The conference topic was „Innovative concepts for a sustainable agricultural and food economy"
Innovations play a major role on the path to more sustainable agri-food systems. To meet the challenges of environmental and resource protection as well as the preservation of biodiversity, viable concepts are needed that help to build a more resilient agri-food system in times of climate change and other man-made crises. These aspects were considered and discussed at the conference from a wide variety of perspectives.
