DSH Overview

The German Language Examination for Student Applicants (DSH) is a university language test that checks whether applicants have the necessary German language skills to study at a German-speaking university.

JLU offers the DSH twice a year (before the summer and winter semester). The examination fee is 140€ (this includes a one-week examination training).

Application

Starting on Monday, 19 January 2026, you can register here for the first time via uninow for the JLU DSH before the summer semester 2026 until 16 February 2026. You can already prepare for this by having your language certificate (Goethe-Institut or ÖSD B2; telc, min. with a grade of ‘satisfactory’; TestDaF min. 14 points, ZMP, onDaF) as well as your letter of admission for the 2026 summer semester from JLU or THM ready as PDF files.
 
The written part of the exam will take place on Friday, 27 February 2026. In the week before, from 23 to 26 February 2026, there will be a preparatory training course for the exam, for which you can automatically register.

Payment

The examinations are subject to a fee. A fee of 140 euros is payable for the first examination. This applies accordingly to the re-examination. The fee must be paid at the latest ten days before the written examination (date according to the admission notice).

Withdrawal

Withdrawal

The examination fee can be refunded upon request - minus an administrative fee of € 10 - if you cannot take part in the examination and if you are not responsible for the reasons for this. Proof of payment must be submitted together with the refund application and the reasons must be explained.
