Toy and Craft Collection
The toy and craft collection of JLU
Prof. Dr. Hans Mieskes established the toy and craft collection from 1961 to 1981. His assistant, Dr. Winfried Klinke, was instrumental in building up and looking after the collection. The name 'toy and craft collection' was chosen because it contains not only classic toys and board games but also paints, modeling clay, and other materials. This is one of the most extensive collections at JLU and one of the very few university collections to even have toys. It was considered the largest one in the FRG. It includes 2,500-3,000 objects: board games, doll houses, stuffed animals, hand puppets, Lego, Playmobil, model building objects, toy cars, scooters, etc.
