Career Talks for Postdocs - Non-academic perspectives in industry, business and society

The academic career offers a lot of uncertainty. This is evident from the fact that the number of professorships is limited and only some of the postdocs end up in one later on. But other career paths are also open to postdocs - often they are just less well-known and sometimes not as straightforward as expected, but nevertheless attractive.

In order to highlight options for possible alternatives, the PCMO advisors of the GGS and the GGL have created the event series Career Talks for Postdocs - non-academic perspectives in industry, business and society.

Every first Tuesday of the month from 6 to 7 p.m., the GGS and the GGL take turns inviting guests who have found their way in various professional fields after completing their doctorates. They will tell us their stories and share their journey to where they are now.

You can find the next and past event dates on the GGS website (only available in German).

If you have any suggestions or requests regarding specific people, topics or sectors, please feel free to contact us at postdocs@ggs.uni-giessen.de or postdocs@ggl.uni-giessen.de.

Please register by 12.00 noon on the day of the event by e-mail to postdocs@ggs.uni-giessen.de so that we can send you the access data right before the event.

The Giessen Graduate Centre for Cultural Studies (GGK) / International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) also regularly offers career talks. It invites alumni to talk about their very different career paths. You can find upcoming events on the website of the GCSC's Career Service: Offers - The Graduate Centre (uni-giessen.de).
