Abstract

In everyday life, you are constantly asked about your dissertation topic – but the audience is always different and so is your response. During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to reframe your dissertation topic for a variety of contexts: a two-minute pitch addressing another researcher at a conference, an informal conversation with people outside academia, hooking a broad audience (science communication, dissertation prizes), and translating your research into something creative. We will experiment with different formats and draw out what it is that intrigues and motivates you about your research – and how to communicate this to others.

The workshop is an opportunity to engage creatively with your dissertation topic, whether you are just getting started or have been working on your PhD for a few years. It is open to all IPP and GCSC members.
