Through an interdisciplinary approach with parallel consideration of animal behaviour (in particular also via sensor-based, and newly to be developed, automatic recording systems) and animal husbandry systems (further development of husbandry systems and husbandry equipment to optimise the living conditions for the animal), as well as taking into account the requirement of animal keepers, a contribution is made to the sustainable improvement of farm animal welfare.
One focus of the working group is the new and further development of phenotyping procedures for characteristics of animal behaviour, animal health and animal welfare in farm animal production.
