My research focuses on the cultural and media-specific forms of expression of the Greco-Roman world, with particular emphasis on the relationship between visual culture, literature, and aesthetic perception. My work explores the interplay between images and texts, questions of intermediality and sensory experience, and the aesthetics and poetics of the Roman Imperial and Late Antique periods. Methodologically, I combine approaches from visual studies, philology, and cultural studies, working deliberately at the intersections of different disciplines within Classical Studies.
After broad-based training in Classical Studies, with a particular focus on Latin Philology and Classical Archaeology, I completed my doctorate in 2021 with a dissertation on ekphrasis. I subsequently taught at Justus Liebig University Giessen before being awarded a DFG Walter Benjamin Fellowship (2022–2024) at the University of Zurich for a research project on the aesthetics of citation in Late Antiquity. From 2024 to 2025, I was a member of the Department of Classical Philology at Philipps University Marburg and, from 2025 to 2026, held a fellowship from the Dr. Dieter and Sigrun Neukirch Foundation. Since August 2026, I have been a Research Associate in Classical Archaeology at Justus Liebig University Giessen, primarily responsible for teaching.
