Library

The library’s holdings comprise approximately 15,000 monographs covering all areas of Classical Archaeology. More than 100 academic journals are available on site at the University Library (UB).

The Archaeological Library is located in Rooms D12 and D13 of the Department of Classical Archaeology at the Institute of Classical Studies, Philosophicum I, Building D (ground floor). Access to the library during supervised opening hours is via Room D14. Bags, coats, food, and drinks must be left outside the library before entering.

Books temporarily removed from the library for photocopying or similar purposes must be registered in advance with the library staff, together with the user’s contact details. Additional study spaces and facilities for consulting library materials are available in Rooms D16 and D6 of the Department of Classical Archaeology. All books used must be returned to the departmental staff no later than 5:00 p.m.


Opening Hours

The library follows the regular opening hours of the Department of Classical Archaeology:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

At present, access to the library is available only upon request to the departmental staff.

The library is a reference collection and materials may not be borrowed. Exceptions for overnight or weekend loans of individual volumes may be granted only with prior permission from the departmental staff. Borrowed items must be returned by 10:00 a.m. on the next working day.
